I used to work at Future Shop/Best Buy in Red Deer.
I was in Car audio before being moved to Comptuers, because I was fond at both at the time I thought I would like to give computers a try. Man I cannot beleive how much CRAP they put on those HP's and Compaq's. What you really need to do is get 100% refunded and go to a independant OEM retailer and buy the pieces one at a time and build from the ground up. It will probably be the same price, but less crap on it, and better components. As for extended warranty on computers, its a joke. Read the new fineprint for what they warrant in terms of hardware, its changed. I say just bank the cash you woulda spent on the warranty and see how much you are left with at the end of everything.

I will never buy A computer tower from Future Shop/Best Buy as long as I live, but a laptop is a different story...

Or you can just keep the Hp/compaq do a full format and reinstall with your own or *cough* friends copy of xp. I have a dell it wasn't to bad for **** being loaded on it, but I wiped it out anwyay and put a normal OS on it.

Extended warranties from BB/Future Shop/Staples are a joke, they neglect to tell customer after there warranty is up with the manufacture they will be charge X Fee for getting any software/hardware support, so sure it covers the hardware but still doesn't help the cx when it comes to software issues. Least with manufactures warranty you get full warrnty top to bottom for X number of years you paid for.

Nope. They probably just recieved my letter within the last day or two, maybe even today. So we'll see here. My guess is they'll probably call me... apologize etc... offer to look at it again, when I refuse they'll probably offer me some sort of in store credit for a new computer. When I refuse that they'll probably offer me a little more and I'd bet if I rufsed at that point they'd tell me that's the best they can do. The best part about this whole thing is. Even if I get credit or a whole new computer. Once I get it, I am still going to send all my letters out, outlining there terrible customer service and support. LOL!
