cig lighter + Aux no power

I'v had my 01 grand prix for around 2 months now and seen the cigerette lighter was burnt out when i bought the car (guy was a hash smoker). I figured it was probably just the lighter itsself. well recently I installed a psp in my car and want to use the aux on my deck for sound, but i also want it to charge the psp aswell, I'v tried connecting the psp charger into my car's lighter spot and my cars auxerillery power outlet both don't seem to work, I'v also used a dc converter and the powerlight on the converter doesn't come on. I'v replaced both fuses and it doesn't seem to be the problem, any suggestions why the only thing not workin in my whole car is the cig lighter outlet and the aux outlet in the car (not the deck).

interesting try searching for the wire the lighter comes from because the connection is probably broken. If not then run a fused wire from battery to switch then to cig light then u can have your psp running

well that cigerette lighter outlet being full of sticky hash, it's most likely so full of crap that the center pin is not making contact with the socket, get some BRAKEKLEEN and hose the sucker out, that stuff works well and it wont eat anything on the dash,

any other suggestions, kinda strange if it were an electrical problem, that only the cig outlet and aux outlet both don't work.

when you replaced the fuse did you check to see if it popped the fuse right away?

most likely a broken wire, something is shorting out.

or if one of the sockets is so full of crud that its causing a short, the cigerette lighter center pin in the socket is very close to the outer barrel and can short out easily

Can i swap out the lighter outlet and put in another auxerilry outlet? or would that cause problems the shop told me that all the hash resin is shorting out the lighter and the aux output.
