I'll see what Lisa can do Aaron. She's the computer freak. I'd say under first imprestion that an complete upgraid is probably going to be easyer. The coputer will keep haveing problems ya keep patching it together ...

 

He has a very good point, with older systems your more providing a bandaid till they no longer offer one for that system. You can get a good system with xp simply for cd burning, playing cards and/or word processing and surfing the net if thats all she really does for under $1000. It doesn't take much. If anything it may even be under $500. In the end with patching together your really payin the same in the end almost.

I'm all up for helping friends but after awhile it gets to be a little to much, and when you do it free for someone and someone else hears then they complain that it should be free for them too. This situation is a bit different however.

^^^Yeah if it's friend I won't charge them, if after I do something they say here's 20-30$ sure I won't say no, like I said I won't ask though.

I get PAID to fix computers. It's what I do. I don't see why I should be expected to do it for free just because someone needs a hand.

If you think I'm being a jerk because of it then you can just kiss my butt. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars getting to where I am. Just because you choose to not know anything about computers doesn't make me a bad guy.

Though in other circumstances why should someone do it for free who paid to have everything they do? (Education, equipment) Like I said some people do it for a living, if you can't afford a computer and know nothing about them and are unwilling to learn one way or another, you shouldn't have one. (IMO) Life isn't free, the air you breathe technically speaking isn't free unless of course your of the homeless. Sure once in awhile helping a friend is no problem. But if its a costly upgrade or what not there has to be some form of $$ involved.

In some cases you fix your friends computer for free, and they turn around and tell a friend and they ask you to fix their friends for free cause oh hey you had no problem doing it for them why not their friend? And the cycle continues.

I've never asked people do stuff for free either, but I've never had to say " HEY IF YOU DO THIS I WILL PAY YOU" it's just comes natural someone gives you a hand pay them back according to what they did for ya, I see it more as a surprise and meaningful if they say "Hey thanks for the hand here's XX$$" Now if it was someone I didn't know that would involve me driving somewhere to fix something I would say "Sure give me XX$$ I will help ya out". True nothing in life is free but it also doesn't kill to lend a hand here or there for free, not everyone goes the Dutch route these days.
