Computer Help-Edmonton!
Along with "helping" people goes the trait of "trusting" people.. I understand trusting a complete stranger is an odd thing.. but if you protect yourself by getting all his details (email, phone, name, etc.) then you shouldn't need to worry about the guy stealing that SUPER computer that she has..
I'd like to know: how many of you would stop on the side of the road if you saw a guy in a car, obviously lost looking at a map? It's called being nice.. let's try doing it more often and the world would might become a better place to live in!! Isn't there a saying "do unto others what you would want done to you"? Something like that..

I also love the fact that he thinks it would only take 15 minutes out of someones day.
Right, making the phone call and arrangements THEN driving over there and finding the place THEN installing it and making sure it all works THEN driving back home. I don't know how fast you drive/work but that's at least an hour or two.
Again, I'm not saying there's no way I'd help anyone in that situation. I'm just pissed at the fact that I'm told off because I may say no.
See my sister is an interior designer. There is no way I'd ask my sister to spend a couple of hours (say 1.5-2) whipping up something for me without some sort of compensation. Btw Aaron, there "might" be compesation also means there might not be.
My gf is a childacare worker. Would it be cool if some stranger dropped their kid off for a couple of hours without her getting paid?
Eventually there HAS to be a line drawn where you don't do it for fun, but it's a business.
For family/friends I do PC work for fun. For strangers it's business. </font>
JordyO - you see it the exact same way as I do..
I don't know about you guys but I would never walk into a doctor or dentists office and ask them to work on thier day off for me lol..
BTW - just a side note.. right now I am on a friend's step-mom's computer which I have just fixed..
