Could we possibly see hockey sooner then later?

From what it appears the NHLPA offered a pretty decent proposal which the NHL agreed to another meeting Tuesday. Least this time around the NHL is taking the offer serious now it's just up to them to accept or not.
Among the major points in today's proposal, the NHLPA has offered a 24% rollback on salaries and 20 cent tax on payroll over $45 million. The tax rises to 50 cents on the dollar over $50 million and 60 cents on the dollar over $60 million. The owners would also gain on entry level contracts with a cap on bonuses as well as arbitration rights.

I really hope they can pull off at least a partial season this year (the Edmonton Oilers were the major deciding factor on me going to university here in Edmonton). I heard that even if they reached an agreement today, there wouldn't be any hockey until early February.

Do you think they would even bother coming back for this season?
How many games minimu would they play in order to have a stanley cup final? Without that I doubt any team would bother playing (most of there money gets made then anyways)

There is still over 1/2 the season left, so they can still make a go of it.
