Fargin Bastich Cougar
"Often called “ghost cats” due to their elusive nature, cougars quietly, invisibly share an increasingly human-impacted landscape. As the borders between our backyards and wilderness areas narrow, it is our responsibility to live and recreate wisely so that this keystone species may exist for generations to come."

I'd also like to point out that my wife has walked right next to a tree where a cougar was just hanging out in. She was within feet of the cat. This took place IN TOWN.
<edit> Right on smith! That would be my choice as well! LOL No sh*t.

Have animal services re-locate that cougar..
its not the cougars fault for doing this... its only responding to its instincts.. how would it know that these animals belong to you?
Animal services would be glad to solve the problem for you
GIVE THEM A CALL!!!
No need for guns or whatever other harmful crap was suggested in this thread already.

The CO on all 3 of his visits to our house had already identified this cat as a problem animal due to other attacks in our immediate area. I am all for conservation and reloaction as well, but to relocate a problem predator and make it someone else's problem is not the solution here. This is why the CO was ready to take the cat down from day 1. He also has the familiarity with cats that none of us on this site can have. He has had a cat drop on his tracking dog from a tree, not 5 feet from him. He is more than qualified to make the proper educated and informed decision about this cat.
As far as the lighting conditions go, 2 500w halogen lights and a 2,000,000 candlepower spotlights that can burn out your retinas at 100 feet, so we have more than adequate lighting to properly identify the target and ensure a safe clean kill shot.
FYI, no kitty last night. This means that he has had his fill for the time being and is laying low until he needs to feed again. Perhaps with haloween coming, he'll be hungry again and snack on one of the little fast moving kids. A kid running is a instant kill instinct to a cougar. So ask yourself what is more important in this case, the life of a child or that of a non-endagered animal that has been deemed highly dangerous.
If you do not think that this is a dangerous animal that would not approach and injure you here is my deal for you. I will fly you out here, set you up right where this cat ambushes from and you can and will wait, unarmed until this cat attacks you. Mind you this is not a problem animal that should just be relocated so you should not have a problem with this at all. Are you willing to put your life on the line? I am. Don't agree with me, too damn bad.
PS I think the BSL is a total pile of stinky, smelly that will not solve any type of moral issues that people have with animals like Pitbulls.

Nice!
Now relocate that cougar far from any human population or livestock.
If that's what this particular CO said, then that's what he said. I'm going to make sure to ask a few around here what they have to say on the subject. I see them a few times a year at least.
Take care over Halloween! Scary thought a "problem cougar" at large on Halloween.

No "happy" ending as of yet for either the cat or me. It more than likely is still in our general area, the scary thing is that even though we know that it is here, most people do not. They are the people that are in danger the most. Thankfully we had no attacks last night on the little kids in the area.
