I had a crappy pair of shoes that led to a pain in my left foot. I tried a few of the drugstore variety inserts for my shoes but they all suck. I ended up buying these:

I put some in my golf shoes and some in my regular sneakers. I kid you not, I have had no problems when I wear either of these shoes. Yet, I have a couple pair of shoes that do not have the insole and if I wear them for a while my left foot will begin to hurt. They are not overly expensive. In fact, I intend to buy a couple more pair of insoles from them in the near future - once I recover from the Xmas outflow.
