I doubt you will get it. One of the guys I know is waiting for his. It was submitted feb 9th, and they called him this week to say they are still working on ones received for jan 9th. They are way behind. You should be able to fly in and out of mexico direct from Edmonton without a passport, that's at least what I heard.

As a minor update, i'm currenlty kinda stressed and sorta want answers from people that generally aren't available at 1230am. Too stressed to sleep which sucks cause i gotta be up in 3.5h to call the passport office n try and get an upate.

Anywho, as a sorta backup plan, I've found tickets to travel the same days. Only differences being that i'd leave from Edmonton at 6am vs calgary at 2pm and arrive at 2pm vs 8pm in Cancun.

Then i'd leave cancun at 2pm vs 6am originally and return at 9pm instead of 4pm. On top of that, my flights would be direct from edmonton to cancun. Not the current Calgary to somewhere in the US and then to cancun.

All in all the flight would cost me $1252 (vs 1035 from calgary + gas for the 3h drive to calgary and back to edmonton). So i'd bank on $50 gas (assuming i share with my bro), maybe a bit more, i'm only out maybe maybe $160ish assuming there's no penalties for cancelling my current airline ticket. Thats another thing i wish i could get an answer on ASAP.

No passport required for the direct flight. I'm happy to have a backup plan, i'd just like to find out now about my passport and/or take action and book a seperate flight asap to get it all settled before it gets booked or what not.

</end of stressed out post>

Hopefully you have received your passport by now. If not send me a pm and I will see what I can do. I work for Passport Canada.

We are still busy but not as busy as we were a month or so ago.

Best bet to avoid the lines is to fill your application out online. When you do this you get bumped to the front of the line.

If I can be of any help send me a pm.
