Question

So I'm in the process of shopping for a new pair of work boots....

I bought a couple pair of shoes a couple weeks ago at one of those "2 for $60" deals, but they have pretty sell given up on me already...

So,I'm looking for some input on what kind of boots are out there that would suit my needs:

a:All leather upper
b:Stitched sole
c:Solid sole(none of this "air bag" crap)
d:Steel Toe
e:Thick tread(thin tread I wear out in no time flat)

I'm thinking I'm going to have to pay thru the nose for them, but rather than paying $50 here...$60 here...I would pay a good dollar for a pair of boots that wont hurt my feet, offer good support, and last for a reseasonable amount of time.

I was looking at a pair of boots at Mark's for $179 but I would like to find something a little bit cheaper...

Any thoughts?

Caterpillar boots like I have are very good, not sure on how much they were, but they should last for many moons.

I have always hated Cats. My Timberlands are my faves. Might not last as long as you need them to.....but man are they comfortable.

cats have always treated me very well.

I even owned a pair of their sandals that lasted me 4 years (sandals usually last 1 year tops, before ripping apart on me). They only became wrecked cause i wore them dirtbiking (go figure)

i want cats, but they are like 200$+ which was steep when i was lookin for new boots a year ago, ive got either kodiaks, or dakotas now cant remember which, i love em, but with my job im standing, or walking for 90% of my day, and ive managed to wear the soles about 90% bald in under a year..... but marks is generally where i get my boots, possibly check out iron age shoes at 225 28st SE just up from devry, they have a decent selection, i might go there for my next pair cus ive delievered to the girl in there lots in the past.

Yeah...Cats are the ones I was looking at at Marks...$179 seems like so much money...And like you,Game, I'm on my feet on the go for 11 or so hours a day at work so I wear the average show out in no time flat.

Also being a bigger man as I am,a good solid sole is a major requirement...

Does anyone know of a place in Calgary where I could find military issue boots?I tried Army and Navy but nadda...They did have some boots I will keep in mind..but not quite as good a quality as the Cats..

Cats are worth the cash because they will last as long as two pair of other work boots. The aren't the most comfortable after a few months though.

If your not in a line of work that's really hard on boots, then I would get something other than Cats for the comfort factor.

If you need your boots to be tuff as hell & last, then get the Cats and some good insoles.
