Home Stereo Sub - anything cheap but decent?

Hey Folks,

My paradigm pw-2200, ate the biscuit a while back - not sure if it's the amp or the sub, though i'm leaning towards the amp due to what it does. None the less, I don't have anything to test with. Word on the street is I can order a new part from paradigm for about $300 (probably plus shipping). Not sure i'm into the hassle, so I may just sell it off as is and let someone else deal with it.

Needless to say, I came into some money after a 130 hour paycheque (normally 75) and might be able to spare some for a sub. That being said, I don't wanna spend a ton, but it needs to be musical for music as well as movies.

Home theatre is as follows....
Sony Grandwega 55"
Yamaha 7.1 HTR6080 (i think) about 100w per channel
Athena AS-F2 250w w/2 8's in each. They're pretty solid.
Center and rear speakers all both athena's.

I'd really like to do this in under $500, but am open to ideas. This is more of an impulse buy than anything as I need things to sound better while playing rockband currenlty.

Maybe something like such:
Best Buy Canada Web Store: Audio: Home Audio & Speakers: Klipsch Synergy 12" Down-Firing Subwoofer (SUB-12)

Here's what u do.... Go to parts express and order the biggest plate amplifier that you can afford...
Search Results Page

500 watts should be about good, more or les is also fine, up to u really...
Then you go here and buy a Tempest x subwoofer....
DIYCable.com : Intro » Home » Exodus Speakers » Exodus Subs »

Then you build a big huge box , they have a few different ideas on their white paper for the Tempest based on what characteristics u desire. Paint it and vibrate your neighbours. I gaurantee it will blow you away. I personally have one of these setups, mine is a Tempest x downfiring in about a 6 cubic foot box with 500 watts and I can tell you that it will blow many many home theater setups outta the water. My sub plays low, and the Tempest is a very nice sub, especially for the price. Read around a little, and ask around on any home theater forum and u will find that this is a magical combo. Hope this helps, and I promise you will not be dissapointed, this is a whole nother level of bass. The sub is very musical and really this setup will more than impress you. If u have any questions or wanna see pics just PM me... I am very confident you will enjoy it if you build it...
