waller's right it's all to do with detenation..........my truck runs 19:1 compression pistons and I run 38lbs of boost..........
the cummins 5.9 is good to about 50lb with the stock head gasket, then if you o-ring you can run up to 80lbs of boost safley [img]smile.gif[/img]
guy at work had a turbo merkur (fancy escort [img]tongue.gif[/img] )
anyhow when he uped his boost he started to run into detonation problems .......he installed a water injection system and now he can run higher boos no problems ......he tells me nitrous will allow you to run even more boost cause it cools the combustion chamber back to safe levels .......
it's all to do with total combustion pressure & heat ........
