Hey, how come none of the FS employees are jumping to defend the "chainstore" salesman in this thread??

My point is the same as everyone else's about this topic has always been....You tend to get consistently better level of service & knowledge & ability from an indipendent than any of the "chainstores"....less weak links b/c the indipendent cannot afford weak links, every sale is precious.

It's just funny than the FS people will cry bloody murder whenever a negative FS experience is shared ...but they're letting this one go.

Every successful retail store (at least the ones that stand out in their market segment) has a very good sales staff. The stores that are moving product don’t really use 'salesman techniques' too much (if your in the store you're interested). They show the product and why it is different and why it is worth the price. Then they give 'a deal' off the listed retail price. That’s what the consumer wants 1) information 2) explanation 3) demonstration 4) A DEAL 5) reassurance they are making the right decision. The 4th item is probably the biggest sales factor.

When I have a slimy salesperson that is lying to me, I will tell the salesperson they are mistaken in front of their manager and tell them how much in sales they just lost. Bottom line they waste my time then I make it difficult for them. BTW if the salespeople have low integrity, who’s to say that doesn’t carry over into warranty repairs and installation?

I agree with ya Chris 100%...Save eveery penny ya can!!

The best deal I could ever haggle on car audio was for my very first sub at Visions in Winnipeg back in 95 or so...Found an MTX RoadThundr 8" sub on a clearance table for like $85 or so...by the time I walked out,I got it for $60(below cost) and a free set of RCA's throwin' in as well...Should have seen the guy when I asked for the box..LOL...Everytime I went in there after that and the guy saw me,he ran..LOL..

But I tottally agree in saving every penny ya can when making a purchase like that..They can come down on the price quite a bit normally...but some salesmen are hard a steel to deal with and some are dumb as bricks...

My 2 pesos..

see i agree, obviously, if ive gone there im interested in spending money, the way i see it, a sales person should be interested in bringing in said money, if that means he comes over and asks if i need any help and i say no im just looking, thast great, ill find him when i want him there, but to stand there basically alone for like 20 minutes. i shoulda just taken a couple faceplates off the decks to set off the alarms... that mighta gotten their attention faster....,

someone said somethin about jumpin to the defence of FS, this isnt about them at all. they dont have panasonic thus why i havent visited them (they are the only place i have a credit card with thus far so it would be an easy thing to buy from them IF they had the gear i wanted

like i said ive never had problems like this with a&b guys in the past, usually it is other unnamed chainstores where im ignored, just bothers me that some people arent willing to budge on certain little things to make a sale, like "oh ur gonna spend $300 on a sub, and u need 6' of speaker wire? well thats $1.50/ foot....." like come on nowu give a lil u get more back in return business

I can definitely understand the frustration on the part of being a customer, and no doubt A&B locally here gives me the same feeling when I step in their A/V department, but...

Why Panasonic?

I just had to ask.

I always like getting a deal, but it seems that all that TIME, EFFORT and FRUSTRATION aren't worth the $40 you are going to save by shopping around.

its always worth it to save money man, the only real frustration is dealing with useless salesmen, and luckily thats not the norm,

oh so i wasnt gonna really punch him..... maybe just look at him like hes and idiot and point that fact out very loudly in front of other potential customers to let them know hes an idiot and to either deal with someone else, or a different store all together....

think about it man $40 i could take that $40 play one hand of blackjack and i could make it $80..... or loose it all. point is, i didnt pay that $40 to a salesmen

panasonic, cus i like the features, i didnt wanna pay 500$ for the eclipse deck i was lookin at, im not a fan of sony decks, and ive had a bad experience with alpine that makes me leary to invest cash in their HUs (iknow its probly unfounded, but i live by the burn me once shame on u burn me twice and im a fawkin moron for letting it happen... lol

what would u suggest for a deck if not the panasonic? needs 3 preouts, built in EQ, mp3, aux in, for under 3-350$, ive got no other plans for the day so i can spend em checkin things out and not much care:P

^I have been much happier once I assumed my free time was worth as much as my time at work. Wasting ten hours for $40 in savings is not a good plan (dont forget wear and tear on the car, gas prices, lost hours of my life, etc), This is assuming I know more or less what I want. Put a $10 (30, 40, 50) per hour price tag on shopping and you become more efficient.
