My point is the same as everyone else's about this topic has always been....You tend to get consistently better level of service & knowledge & ability from an indipendent than any of the "chainstores"....less weak links b/c the indipendent cannot afford weak links, every sale is precious.
It's just funny than the FS people will cry bloody murder whenever a negative FS experience is shared ...but they're letting this one go.

I could get into a discussion about indy salespeople compared to chain sales people but it's been covered before.
Bottom line - find a good salesperson, learn their name, and if they change stores, follow them - they are rare.
As far as 'deals' go - well I have my own views there too but I'll keep them to myself.
Finally - FS does indeed sell Panasonic again - I checked their website and saw a 5310 but no 5410, but not all product makes it online.
Uh Oh, the bad news just came in, actually I knew about it all along but did not read this until now. Seems that some people may not have paid attention in dealer training to what the competition was carrying.
Panasonic has two lines of stereo gear. Two models are shared by all Panasonic dealers, the 1100 and 1300, the other 7 models I have are shared with A&B. The other 5 or so models are unique to FS and probably Soundsaround. The model# is slightly different, the feature list is slightly different. Chances are there is a model like was mentioned and it is the lock off to the other dealers. The FS models are generally one step below what the A&B and indipendent dealers get, thus all can be described as a lock off that the other dealers cannot get.
The benefit of purchasing from a dealer like us is a handy little card that you get. Panasonic had a great promo last year that is being reinstated soon. Every purchaser of a MXE cd player from an indipendent dealer gets this little card that they swipe through a machine to win a prize. Every customer is guaranteed to win something. I won a discman last year, not that I'll ever use it, but it was a nice throw in.
All dealers in Canada pay the same price this year (the level playing field issue). This means that a decent deal can be had from any dealer. The models that are unique to FS (Soundsaround - maybe) are actually sheaper in cost than the MXE models that we have, due to the slightly different features and capabilities. Look close at the model #, it will tell you when you do your comparison.

It's always interesting how absolutely EVERYONE in car audio always gets a 'good deal'.
