As for the fattening bit - a bagel with butter is more fattening than a plain donut

My mother worked at one for 9 years and managed it for 5. Plus I almost bought a franchise. I too know their operation.
How can you say they did not make them fresh? 11pm to 5am was the bake. Then from about 4am to 7am was finishing. Every day.
Muffins are made throughout the day from a powdered mix, as are cookies. Bagels come in frozen and are baked in the store - as are donuts now but that is only a year to 18months at most. Donuts are still finished in the store though.
It's like Pizza Hut - people say they prefer "hand made" pizza. Well, when I worked there we started with flour, yeast, oil, and water: made the dough from scratch, and then made the pizza with fresh toppings. Sounds handmade to me

I can't wait till the Edmonton one opens, or Camrose. I got to taste some old gas station ones in North Dakota, wasn't too impressed. But at the shops it's as fresh as it can get, and Tim Hortons now makes thier d-nuts out in Ontario. Yes I did say D-Nuts!

Tim Hortons donuts still cannot compare to ones made at a local bakery.
