Good hockey is good hockey. The college and HS level are fun and entertaining too. I enjoyed women’s hockey in the Olympics a while back... it was good, pure, hockey. I say bring in the substitute players...

But it also provides a chance for a lot more people to play than just the same old old guys, you know? I look at it that way. And you cant just take away teams, break some peoples hearts doing that, look what happened with Winnipeg, and Hartford etc

How can we say that the owners created the situation? the players and owners are equally to blame, but only half as much as the players' agents.

"my player will walk unless you give him (insert your annual salary here) per game." Then the players agree, and the owners capitulate.

Then there's the players' union vs. the owners, same thing that happened in baseball. the players union gets some new blood into it, and they figure they're gonna show the owners who's really in charge. at the same time there's a couple of new owners who figure they're going to take the players' union down a peg or two.

Yes the owners did get themselves into this mess. But what business is there anywhere that an owner who recognizes he has made a mistake cant fix it?

Its called cut backs.

They need to contract some of these US based teams that dont care about the game. While Bettman tries to sell our game to money driven US markets that dont know hockey from water polo. Many of our great cities(Winnipeg,Halifax,Hamilton,Saskatoon,Victori a) sit by saying what about us " We love the game "

Greed is killing this game.

Especially the old guys

Greed is killing the game, and for the past couple days I've seen the same news confrence or 'talk show' with a sports broadcaster and some high up guy with the NHL, answer questions on live tv (Still haven't been able to catch the guys name lol). It was on CBC last night.

All these fan's all over Canada, want their game back and I've seen more complaining and crap about it on tv than I ever expected. There were guys in the hall way playing hockey the other night and its a REALLY small hallway lol

They need to strike some kinda deal and fix this problem before this turns into the way baseball is today with its lack of fans.

It's not just USA Teams that're bein greedy, its Canada's teams to, its everyone's teams. We can't put the blame on one thing cause its a number of things.

I just wish they would hurry up and settle this...

Did anyone catch any coverage of that OHSL? I saw it on the news last night and even they are startin to bomb... To high ticket prices for the quality of game. They said its a very sloppy style of play, more goals are scored and less hits. One guy that was interviewed (fan) even said, he wouldn't pay this kinda money again to watch it.

see now id feel for the players if they were asked to take a huge paycut that would effect their quality of life, but come on now, sure 500,000 is alot to u or i, but when u make 3mill a year u cant tell me that u cant live off of 2 or 2.5, i dont see the big deal about having a salary cap, without it, every player will end up goin to arbitration to get more then the club offers, yea the owners paid the big contracts, but what choice do they have? let a player like iginla go cus he wants a lil more then the flames want to pay? what a cap will help prevent is teams like calgary developing a great player only to have someone like detroit come in with a fist full of cash and steal the player from the team whos made him what he is, i dont seen anything wrong with teams wanting to protect their invested time and money on their players.
