Has anyone here done the Police Prep test? I am not in police foundations..but a job I may want in the future requires that I be able to pass one.

I want to start training for it, but would like to know what it all involves and what you guys recommend?

Thanks

Sorry if I'm being an annoyance, I just figure you guys have a good amount of knowledge and are right here.

My girlfriend did police foundations and was the top-graduating girl in her class two years ago.

It isnt 'hard'. If you are a relatively athletic person, and you train for a few months, you should be fine.

Get a copy of the VO2 max audio tape and practice (the 'beep' test) so that you get the timing down.
One year in football they made us do the VO2 max and having never done it before, and being the athletically gifted but relatively plump character I am, I got to level 5 without really knowing what I was doing (Metro Police req like level 6.5 or 7 or so). If you can get the 'beep' timing down, you're set.

For the 'strength' portions, just do a decent overall fitness-oriented weight program for a few months. The actual strength 'tests' I am not sure of, but I think you have to drag a dummy a certain distance, lift a certain amount in various bodyweight-oriented exercises, etc.
www.fitrex.com has a LOT of good weight programs for free, you could pick one of the 'college/pro football' programs and I think that would be well-rounded enough for your needs.

My 2 cents is spent,
good luck,

Many Police forces in your area will use the same PREP test. You will have to take it through ATS (applicant testing services).
Peel is the exception. They do their own which is nothing like the standard PREP test.

Some general strength training along wih some running will get you through it fine.

Any question feel free to email or MSN me.

My sister is just finishing up here police sciences course at York and she passed the test with flying colours, I believe she was first in her class. She was really worried about it but she trained for a while and did really well. If you order an information package from the university, I believe the test perameters are included with an entire booklet about what is involved with the test.

Its all relative, too, dont forget.

A 17 year old kid who weighs 140 lbs may be able to fly through this thing cold, while a 25 year old who weighs 235 may struggle a bit without training, etc...
The catch 22 is that the police force would generally rather have a bigger, more physically 'intimidating' person, just as a visual deterrant....so as with anything, as long as you PASS, you're usually ok...but just because you PASS, doesnt mean you'll get on anywhere...

PS- Peel region are a lot of cowboys
I played football with like five or six young peel cops, and they were absolutly the most maniacl guys on the field back then, and not much has really changed. Apparently large territiory and no partners most of the time makes the more 'gung ho' attitude a bit more suitable.

My 2 cents, spent yet again
