If you don't like a product, don't buy it. When you see a package of goods in a store do you rip the best piece out and stick it on your pocket? No one is putting a gun to your head and saying that you need these songs.

Mreastside... I agree with your analogy to a point, but as informed consumers we realize that you don't typically buy a product if it only has one good feature. You don't steal the one good feature, you decline to buy the product.

You can call it "sharing" all you want, but it's still theft. The music is the intellectual property of the bands and labels. If a band/label decides to make their product available online for free, that's awesome, but if they don't, we need to respect that.

I'm sure if any of you ever have a valuable piece of intellectual property you'll change your tune when people are "sharing" it without your consent.

No one needs them to distribute the music to music stores or radio stations anymore. They are clinging on with their last breath right now.
Choosing to share intellectual property and having it taken from you are entirely different scenarios. Go to Tim's site and note that all the content is: "All images and text are copyrighted, www." That's HIS property. He's allowing people to view it, but not to take it and copy it for their own purposes.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying. Yes, most music these days sucks. Yes, record companies overcharged for years while paying most artists very little. Yes, I could really care less what happens to the big labels.

However, I feel the same way about the big banks, and I'm not stealing from them either.

</font>
I think you forget that most artists choose to share their music in their own ways.

Ok, I give up. Stealing is good. Where do you live again?
