If you don't like a product, don't buy it. When you see a package of goods in a store do you rip the best piece out and stick it on your pocket? No one is putting a gun to your head and saying that you need these songs.
Mreastside... I agree with your analogy to a point, but as informed consumers we realize that you don't typically buy a product if it only has one good feature. You don't steal the one good feature, you decline to buy the product.
You can call it "sharing" all you want, but it's still theft. The music is the intellectual property of the bands and labels. If a band/label decides to make their product available online for free, that's awesome, but if they don't, we need to respect that.
I'm sure if any of you ever have a valuable piece of intellectual property you'll change your tune when people are "sharing" it without your consent.

What do you think this board is about? There are a ton of great installers here that share info for free. We used to charge for that you know. The record companies have no one to blame but themselves. They are obsolete now, no one needs a $250K studio when you can buy a computer and pro tools. No one needs them to distribute the music to music stores or radio stations anymore. They are clinging on with their last breath right now.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying. Yes, most music these days sucks. Yes, record companies overcharged for years while paying most artists very little. Yes, I could really care less what happens to the big labels.
However, I feel the same way about the big banks, and I'm not stealing from them either.
