Raw speaker distributors?

Hey guys,

I've been searching the Internet for a wholesaler of cheap/inexpensive speakers. The kind that you have to build your own cabinet/wall/enclosure for. Speakers of various sizes. Everything I find is super expensive equipment, or large bulk orders of Chinese made stuff. I'm looking for crap in the $5/speaker range. I want to buy 8-16 to wire up for my garage audio system, when I start that project.

I'm also thinking that I may need basic cross-overs/filters that'll take out the frequencies I want for particular speakers. If I understand these correctly, I can wire them in right at the speakers so they'll only receive signals to play in a certain range. I'm interested in case I get my hands on some larger 8" speakers that I don't want to send higher frequencies to, and the same for 4" speakers that I don't want to send low frequencies to.

Does anyone know a Canadian distributor of this kind of stuff?

Link

Thanks, LP. Unfortunately is more of the higher-end components again. Walmart has a relatively inexpensive set of car audio speakers. Can't think of the brand...

What I'm looking for is basically stock speakers from automobiles.

Perhaps I should hit up my local auto wreckers and grab a bunch out of old cars. Probably not going to find anything less expensive. Can't imagine there'd be a lot of demand for that either, hmmph.

I'd say either Princess Auto or XS Cargo will probably be your best bets...
