If they are straigh cut off like, from the headers to the front of the wheels then yes they are, not in your case becouse they are exiting on the back wheel so you are fine, yes its the sound they dont like, any cop will appericate a nice vet

so in cars that means behind the rear wheel
^^ Yeah, IF you want to be sure just contact ur local cop shop n ask or ask someone at a shop that installs it or what not. As others said its more noise that sets them off

I just meant that you can go ahead and do it. Even if it's illegal, which i don't think it is, no cop is ever gonna notice or do anything if it's not too loud because you just straight pipe it.

not worried about noise, its not like they are going to be straight pipes...
and i found this on bc4x4.com
"(3) In addition to the requirements of section 7.03, every passenger vehicle shall be equipped with an airtight metal exhaust pipe and muffler which carries the exhaust gases to a point beyond the body skirt of the vehicle.

Also under "Standards for the Approval of a Motor Vehicle"
Exhaust muffler
22 (Other items omitted)
The exhaust system shall not be located so that a person may be burned when entering or leaving the vehicle.

I did not find any reference to exhaust gasses exiting from in front of the rear wheels, or even a reference to the position of the pipes relative to the doors. I decided that since the pipes did exit from the underside of the vehicle and that since I could put my hand on the tail pipe at normal operating temperature that it did in fact comply with the MVA Regulations, at least by word if not by intent. It passed the inspection as it was."
