some legal advice please?

Hello guys, the deal is this.

I live in an apartment building, there is another apt building next to me, both are like small 3 storey buildings. The owner of the next building recently renovated the windows and left the old ones sitting outside near the drive way, leaning against his building walls, so the windows are right in between our two buildings. I didn't like that at first, but whatever, I thought it's his business and I can't tell him how to run it.

This morning it was windy as **** (around 50km/h winds), I was on my way to school, leaving the drive way when I hear a ****ing bang! I keep going until the next little street to stop and look around. One of the windows basically hit up my cars ***... I have glass all over my trunk and some on the rear glass. trunk and side is all scratched up... The distance is about good 10meters from where the old windows stand and the driveway exit (it's sloped, so I guess that also helped) where I got hit. The driveway is in the glass pieces, as well as side walk and the main road.... bad huh. I immidiately went back into the building to find out the owner's phone. I called him up and told him to come right away and move those windows. My wife was going to catch the bus just half an hour after I left. I don't even want to say this, but it could hit someone walking and that would not be pretty at all.

Now, I'm really ****ing angry with that guys carelessness. My car is all scratched up, granted its old pos and rusted out, but still, his negligence is what caused some damage to my car. Question is, where do I go with this? I don't want to let this go, not even because of my car, but because that guy is a ****ing idiot. I wouldn't mind getting some compensation for the car damage, but it won't break my day if i dont. Too bad he did not predict strong winds and his windows flying around. I called my landlord and advised that he comes over and makes sure that the other guy cleans up the glass mess. My landlord said he's gona call by-law. I'm gona contact him later to see whatsup.

This is a really ****ed up occurance and I wish no one to go through this. Imagine what chance is there of a damn window get off flying with the wind and hitting a car, basically in an open space.

Now some pics, too bad the camera sucks, you'd see more glass on my rear glass

the sidewalk

funny thing is, the guy I got the phone of the landlord from, actually ran up and grabbed the window frame just when I came back to take some pics of the sidewalk. teamwork.
WHen I came back from school, the mess has been cleaned up, although I still see some little pieces of glass in the grass.

hope this post was enjoying.

so what are you asking to know
he can have the glass next to his place (that is ok )
if the wind makes the glass move (it is his cost ) but if it is on the cites land thay will clean it up
go to your car insurance see what the cost is to fix yor car and have the next door pay the deductilbe

this is why he has insurance
