Um, I will have to disagree somewhat with the "different tip won't alter sound" point being made.

I had a 3" diameter SS tip about 6" long for some time on my Omni, and after having it cut off I noticed it sounded less deep and loud. It was noticeable.

Another reasoning behind why a tip can change the sound: Think about most fartcan mufflers nowadays. Why would they make silencers for them? To make the muffler look tame?

By restricting the size of the inside diameter of the tip, you are going to change the effect of the sound. Then again, if you get one of those ricey tips that's just a chrome shell surrounding a piece of steel likely no bigger than the outlet size of the muffler, then a change may be negligable...You wouldn't want my two cents on those pieces, because you wouldn't like it. im not looking for one of those fat *** tips just sumtin that will still sound good but not lound enough to get my dad upset about his new muffler. so sumtin kinda like in the link above
