Ive never owned or riddin in this car, but all I keep hearing is VW quality and reliability?

Thats what I would look into. There nice cars Ive always loved them, but I keep hearing horror stories about small items breaking and costing huge amounts at dealers to get them fixed, which is insane.

TDI, great engine in an average car! Long since the VW design became dominated by Itailian companies, those indestructable automobiles have suffered increasing "issues" from electrical to interior trim! Anyone that wants to rev the TDI above, say 3500 rpm is taking the engine past the peak hp rating and defeating the purpose! You'd be better off shifting at 3500-4000 to a higher gear and let the torque of the engine do the work - pour on the coal and let things fly! One easy, cheap and major imporovement to power and economy - increase the air flow, intake and exhaust! Would be nice to have a six speed trans just so that you could use all that power..! If you ride the accel pedal hard, consider installing a remote oil cooler, as the engine will heat quickly, and with the piston cooler jets spraying oil on the underside of the piston's to cool them; so cooling the oil fast is a good way to save your enigne... As far as economy, depends on you, your foot and traffic, and if you need more info, give me the year of the car.........................

That's not that uncommon. Normally I cannot smell the washer fluid in my car at all. But when I have the summer bug wash in my car I can smell it on the inside.
Reason why:
1) Summer wash has a stronger smell so it is easier to detect (I think the smell is somewhat related to the enzymes used to eat up the bug goo).
2) The air intakes of the car are under the plastice trim between the window and the hood. The washerfluid shoots right over the air intakes and drains through the air intakes as it flows off the window. You can smell that stuff in most cars unless the air is on recirculate.
