Wireless Router help?

Hey, my bro got a laptop yesterday, and a Trendnet wireless router for my PC, so he can get wireless on his laptop from my pc. I am running Telus ADSL through a D-Link modem. Tried setting it up, can't get it going, maybe an IP issue? Sorry for being so vague, I don't know much about computers, can anyone lend a hand or some advice? Cheers

well the router itself should recieve an addy from your isp, then it will assign your computer one. couple things i would check. first off, make sure your computer is set to obtain the ip address automatically. this would be done in your ..network settings in your control panel. the other thing is to make sure the router clones the MAC address of the computer, that the ADSL was setup on first. So you just plug the router in..hook the computer to it, log into the router..and somewhere in there , is a setting to clone the MAC address. those are the items i'd look for first.

I had problems getting my wireless router up and running when I got my laptop as well, but try calling the 800 number that they should give for customer support, also make sure you can encript it dont want anyone stealing the personal info
