West Enclosure for cerwin vega vmax 12.2

Ok I have not built a vented enclosure, but now i am looking to, i refuse to buy pre fab and am not looking to spend 2-300 for someone to build an enclosure for me... well I dont have a problem paying a decent amount as long as its local and dont have to deal with absurd shipping rates.

I drive a dodge caliber the max width i have to work with is 32"

The sub specs are as follows.
Cerwin Vega Vmax 12.2
Dual 2ohm vc
Fs 27 Hz
Qts 0.46
Qms 4.1
Qes 0.052
Vas .977 ft3 / 27.67 liters
Xmax +/- 0.8" / 17mm

It is rated for a max input of 600RMS and i will be running a db 1000.1 amp that claims 1000RMSx1@1ohm (whether or not it makes that who knows)

now Cerwin vega offers four different volumes/port sizes on there site but every time i enter the driver specs into any one of several enclosure design programs i end up with slot port volumes of over 30sq in when even the largest enclosure cerwin vega recommends, 2.15ft3 int vol. calls for a 20sq in port that is 17" long tuned to 35hz.

so basically im totally lost, i would like to stick to slot port design, so any help would be great

If there happens to be someone in the lower mainland area that can build a nice enclosure for a reasonable price, fell free to let me know.

if you are just looking to have an everyday box just use the factory specs

well i had planned on that but whenever i try to figure out the dimensions i cant get the port size to work out... that is any time i insert the specs for the driver into a prog to help with the enclosure design.

bah to late to edit! I really want to lean towards something a little more SPL oriented then the standard boxes provide as well. otherwise id just go with a normal sealed enclosure and save myself the trouble

if your gonna try to design your own vented enclosure proceed with caution because its not easy to get it right. Its also very easy to blow a woofer if the design is off even alittle. Your best bet is still factory specs for the vented design if you want send me the dimensions of your available space and the specs for the woofer and I will draw something up for you

look at the enclosure specs and use this program to get as close as possible from the specs. RE Enclosure Calculator
