LOL I'm still new at this so everythig is a surprise. Yuli how much power can a 1000wrms sub take for a quick burp? I have heard of 2-5 X rated power for burps? What is the rule of thumb here?

take your amps rated output and devide it by 3.5, if the final number you get is less than your sub's rated RMS power handling then it will take your amp indefinately.

you see, how much extra power and for how long a sub can handle isnt the right way of looking at it. impedance rise is what dictates how much ACTUAL power your sub is receiving. Hence why i say devide your amp's output by 3.5

after factoring in the imp rise i dont think my subs ever got more than 1.5 times their rms rating for 6 months straight, 1000's of burps. and i never had any problems.
