Better than Stock sound
Hello all,
Got my new 2009 Yaris RS just last Sat and lovin it except the audio sux.
I'm in the market for new audio equipment but on a small budget. I want to get the best sound at a low price, since the car is a lease, don't want to dump in the whole universe into it. I mainly listen to Techno, World and sometime song with singers. What brand of speakers is recommend?
Would replacing the 4 speakers or just 2 for the front or just adding tweeters or replace the four plus sub?

Honestly in my opinion,
you said small budget. I would replace the head unit before the speakers and add a sub. The factory deck on a Yaris is poop. Keep the original deck and replace back when lease is over. A good aftermarket deck still has more options for time alignment and soundstaging, and with a small amp and sub (bazooka tube??), you can seperate the bass from mids and still get pretty good sound.

I have a 2007 Yaris and yes the stereo sucks. Crappy deck and crappier speakers. Anything will sound better than stock. I don't know what your budget is but visions has some Alpine Type-S 6.5's on for 64 bucks. As fpr the subwoofer any yaris owner knows space is at a premium. If u have a hatchback you can build a box to the same measurements as the spare tire cover/deck. Make a wedge enclosure and grab a shallow mount subwoofer. face the subwoofer up with a grill. It took me like 1 hour to build a box and now I have my spare tire and all the original space.

Just curious why you chose to lease? I've always opted for buying new... I'm not knocking you, just wondering.
New deck. I recommend the Kenwood Excelon KDC-x592. My fiancee has had this unit in her 2008 Accent for 4 months now. It's a nice piece of equipment. Easy to use. 2 year warranty. USB connectivity - so she keeps her 8Gb thumb-drive in her glovebox, which is plugged into the cable that comes off the back of the deck.
If you can get those Alpines for $65, that'll be a noticeable improvement. Then a 10" Alpine TypeS. Pioneer makes a 4 channel amplifier that you could run the front speakers off, and bridge the rear channel for power for your sub.
