Question Car Audio Problem

Hey I am having troubles getting my system up and running. My amp currently has power, the green LED light turns on. I tested to see if it was giving power via speaker wires and the light tester showed that it was. A friend of mine suggested it could be my RCA cables. So I went and picked some new ones up pulled my deck out and tried the new ones, still failed to work. I checked all my cables everything seems fine. I pulled out my box and stuck it in my friends car. It works perfectly. Any suggestions why it won't work in my car ? thanks

Check the fuse under the hood some amps still light up with just the remote turn on lead. Get a multimeter and do a continuity test on both sides of the fuse.

This is an easy matter to troubleshoot.
lets go thru elimnation.
Your amp needs 5 things to work:
1: Power. Test with a voltmeter between the amp power terminal and CAR GROUND. YOu should read 12 volts.
2: Ground. Test with voltmeter between the amp power terminal and the amp ground terminal. You should read 12 volts. Now turn the amp on. Do you still have 12 volts? If not then there is a bad contact somewhere that only shows up as a high resistance when the amp starts drawing power. Also test between car ground and amp ground. YOu should get 0 volts.

3: signal. get an mp3 player or cd walkman and a 1/8 stereo to rca adaptor cable (your dollar store probably has them) . Turn on the player and make sure you get sound from headphones. Then connect to the amp rca inputs using the adaptor cable.
4: proper setting. Double check any setup. gain, lp setting. check again. Have a friend check again.
5: Speakers. Are the speakers connected and working? Disconnect both speaker leads from the amp and check with an ohm meter or 9 volt battery.
6: remote power. Check with voltmeter between remote connector and car ground. Check again between remote connetor and amp ground.

If all of the above check out, then the amp is bad. But I suspect you may find something wrong in the connections or amp setup
