Component speakers cut out at low volume!

check the speaker terminals might be hitting the doors metal.

Bingo, was going to say the same thing. Also check the crossover as well, make sure the connections are tight and not exposed to each other or any metal. If the installer used spade connectors that were crimped on, make sure they are fully crimped and not loose

Take it to your installer and have him fix it... thats why you paid him in the first place
