Question DEH-P4800MP not outputting on Front Left Channel

Hey,
-I was wondering if any of you would be able to help me with a little problem. Just recently I installed my sound system into my new car, and just realised that my front driver side speaker isn't playing anything. I know the speakers work, and we tested the connection at each wire junction, the last one being straight through the wire harness attached to the radio, speaker was getting the signal. So I'm guessing that it's the deck itself that is not outputting anything.
-So the question is, how could I go about fixing this, does anyone know which part of the circuits would control the left channel, etc and is it possible to fix it on my own, or with he help of someone who works on electrical boards and such. I have a Pioneer DEH-P4800MP deck, contacted pioneer as well, waiting on their response to tell me where a certified repair station is, but I don't want to spent like 100$ to fix a radio that cost me 170$ to begin with... so any knowledge on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
-If it's not possible/worth it, I was considering replacing this radio with the DEH-P4100UB or the DEH-P5100UB, only reason I would make the bump up t 5100 is cuz it has a 16bit d/a vs. the 4100 1bit d/a, but other then that the 4100 has enough of the key features that I believe I would need. Although I don't really like this new 7-joystock/**** combo, I can just picture myself changing folders while adjusting the volume, while driving on these Québec roads... Any comments on having used this 7-way control.
-Finally I guess using the pre-amp outs instead and getting a 4-ch amp would solve my problem and make the sound even better, but if I ran a 400 watt 4-ch amp plus my current 200 watt 2-ch amp from my car, would I need to do any other changes, such as a new alt, or new wiring, or another/bigger battery, or a cap(although I'm a little confused how it would help much since it would start to drain even more on the bat once it discharges enough energy so that it drops voltage, which would occur within msecs, right?)
-Geez my first post is more of a novel then anything else, but any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time,
George

Have you tried taking the radio out and switching the front channels to verify the problem?

Generally if one channel is dead on a head unit, all channels die as it most often goes into protection. I would check to make sure that you have a good connection behind the radio or that you have continuity showing from the speaker to the radio, failing that, meter the speaker as well to make sure it is not open.

Well I tried using a 9v to test the speaker, first at the speaker, then at the wires after the harness and finally I tested it by hooking the 9v up throught the wire harness tht attaches to the radio, and each time it moved the speaker fine. This was actually done by the FS instal guy, and he told me its my radio due to the test above. I could try Sikk's suggestion, and MR2 when you continuity what test would I use to do that?

Thanks in advance

use a multimeter to test it's resistance...but easiest is just swap speaker outputs on the radio first.

Ok so I'll have to try that, umm what is the best way to take off the dash without using one of those dash remover tool, or where can I get one for cheap? Will probably only have time to check it at the end of the week, got midterms already... so I'll post my results when I get them. But if it fails on the speaker output swap, and the multimeter is fine, then what would be my next step?
