I have a nissan versa 09 with stock stereo with 6 cd changer. On the face plate there is a aux in. My girlfriend go me a xm satellite radio for my birthday

I just plugged it into my aux in and my accessory outlet and had the antenna running on the dash. Worked but lots of wire. On the versa right above the radio is a compartment that i thought would be perfect to house a more hidden solution. First thing i did was to splice onto the aux in and relocated it inside that compartment. I open the radio up. Where the faceplate connects to the radio there is the plug and each pin is labeled. I saw a aux- r and a aux-l. labeled pin. So i soldered two wires and terminated it into a mini jack plug and routed it behind my dash to the compartment. It worked and worked well. but the 5v coming from the cigarette adapter was still annoying me. while working on the aux plug i also saw pins labeled sys+5v and d- gnd. so i figured i would use these. when i turned on radio all was fine. Then i turned on xm unit and display on my stock radio turned off but my speakers and xm unit still work. then about a minute later everything stopped working. for the last month i have had no radio and cant figure out how to get it to work. I undid everything that i did but the problem is still there. I checked the fuses under the hood and under the steering wheel. anyone have any idea on if i can fix this.

ps. I belive that the pin labled d-gnd is display ground. here are all the pins coming from the faceplate in order

Two things come to mind, check if you blew a fuse (under steering column and/or in engine compartment) first. Second is that you may have blown the stock stereo, whether if it has an internal/external fuse itself or could have damaged the unit.

fried your stock radio...time for an after market one...good excuse "honey, I broke the radio trying to install the xm sat you bought me.....guess I should look for something new"

a friend of mines excuse for buying a dbl. din screen for his car was that it had bluetooth and using your cell while driving is illegal now.

 

I dont see a ceramic fuse. what would a surface mount fuse look like.

 

would the faceplate have afuse.
