Help! memphis C3 started making scratchy noise!

one day my Memphis started making a scratchy/ buzzing noise so i took it out and brought it in the house. Once i took it out of the box smoke just rolled out of the box so i took the magnet off of it and noticed the voice coil looked like it had stretched, You can see it in the pictures. However i am not even sure if that is the problem or not. Anyone know if it is fixable?? or what could have caused it? i have it in a sealed 2.2 cu ft box and wired it down to 2 ohms. It is 800 watts rms and i have it hooked up to a jl G1700 amp that is rated at 700 watts rms.

You overheated the coil, cooked the insulation, causing the smoke, and deformed the former, causing the scratching.

Welcome to recone land.
