how to choose an amplifier ?
Do you think there is a difference between "real life" and an isolated test procedure?
Because there isn't, both are "real life".
The only difference is one is based on subjective opinions on what caused the change while the other isolates and explains precisely what the change was caused by and -should- leave no doubt.

I love amp threads
Incidentally, you can't get power from nothing. If you have a 25amp fuse, stress it 50% so it rides the edge but just never blows, and run an average of 13volts, you are topped out at 488watts available, multiplied by the efficiency of the amp for theoretical max output of maybe somewhere in the 400watt range... Shows how much of that 900watt amp you actually listen to

I think they're just good reads and help noobs in particular weed through a lot of bs when shopping for electronics in general. I think the biggest point made by those challenges is that the differences are so small that it's really not a big factor when choosing amps and maybe more effort should be placed on other factors...price, reputation, application etc...especially for those with "normal" systems that are not at the limit of install and tuning where perhaps a certain amp may add a certain je ne sais quoi.

I am not saying anything provacative
From what I think I've learned so far, if I go with the audison set-up or any a/b class amps, I would have good sound obviously but I'd be maxed out on less power and pay a premium in value. If I go with any D class, they makes gobs of power ,cheap too price wise, a little less sq and the system would have a broader range of tunability or I go with something in between those two classes ...more food for thought.
