intermitten problems with right front channel

so, lately I've been having some issues with my right front channel.
occasionally when i turn the system on, i get no output from the right front channel. when i turn the volume up it crackles a bit then eventually plays with the rest of the speakers.
i thought maybe it was a blown crossover so i swapped the crossovers around and the problem stayed in the same channel. checked the mids and tweets and they play perfectly with and without the crossover. all my connections are solid and the wiring is perfect all the way back to the amp with no breaks or anything. rcas are also perfect.

after that i tried running my rcas to my friends amp in his truck and it plays fine for him and vice versa with his rcas to my amp. the problem is so intermittent that i don't think it told me anything by doing that other than that it still works fine some of the time.

this week i tried something else by swapping my pioneer deck with my wifes kenwood and haven't had the problem since. leading me to believe that the amp isn't the culprit but on the flip side my deck is working fine in my wifes car. so i cant tell if it's an issue with my amp or with the preouts on the pioneer.

ive noticed that i have to turn the gain way up on the amp with my wifes kenwood (2v out) and i used to keep it all the way down with my pioneer (6.5v out) and either way it only seems to be happening with my pioneer.

could it be bad signal from the deck?
perhaps a bad pot in the amp? maybe the gain isn't doing it's job and the amp isn't getting the right signal?
i don't have access to another amp so i cant swap amps for a long term test (intermittentness of the problem)

any way of telling for sure if my deck or amp is screwed? i have the spare cash and i want to replace either the amp or deck asap.

any ideas would be great

I had the same problem awhile back .It turned out to be a short in the speaker wire . It would play normal for weeks then act up for a couple of days then be fine again . You just never knew what kind of day it was going to be . Shorts are weird in cars I,m guessing due to all the differnt types of vibration and jolting thier subject to .

Mine ended up being the tinsel lead on the speaker, once in a while it would short out and clip my hole front stage, was really really annoying, cost me a windshield once. oops

i re-ran the wiring for the right channel and it seems to be working fine. i checked the old wire and it seemed fine also.

theres nothing wrong with the mid bass driver either as i ran it for a while on my home amp and it worked fine the whole time especially at high volume

so far so good though.

That was where the windshield came in, i rewired everything, ran just the woofer and had no problem, and for some reason when i hooked the tweeter back up i guess the crossover sent the clip from the woofer to the tweeter. and then things got ugly.lol
