I just bought a multimeter so when it arrives, I will be able to check the Voltage and all that. Anyone know a link to a good and detailed tutorial on how to tune an amp? I've seen a few but they all have an aspect that has you judge it by ear and I figure there has to be a more scientific way.

Who here knows why?
I have two ideas. The first is the obvious that the system voltage drops too low on big hits.

The second is that after being installed, the speakers are being slowly cooked and the insulation breaks down. Eventually during use the voicecoils heat up and the wire expands, finally shorting on a big hit. Maybe it takes a voice coil bottoming out to put it into protection. This would explain everything being ok when the drivers are new.

The scientific way requires an oscilloscope... and those are very expensive. That's why almost no one does it that way.

Have you checked the pcb to see if anything looks extra crispy? Are you connecting rcas to all four channels of the amp? are you using any y-cables or anything?
