strange subwoofer problem

Well short story, my Pioneer 3002D2 12" 1000w/3500w sub-woofer mysteriously quit working.

Long story, the other day, the fuse on my audiopipe 15001d blew. Today i replaced it with a 150A fuse. I didn't know why it blew, and thought nothing of it. So, turned the amp on, and the sub does nothing. I thought, "Oh no, I wrecked my one of my new amps". However, i hooked the amps output to another sub, and the amp functions perfectly fine. So, i figured, maybe the wires in the box came disconnected. I took the squeaker out, and everything seemed fine. I then hooked the amp directly to the speaker posts, and still nothing. Finally i check the speaker posts with an ohmmeter, and when i hook them up, the ohmmeter doesn't change, it still reads "1". Each coil is supposed to be 2 ohms.

I don't know what the matter is. There is no rubbing of the coil at all, it is all smooth, heck, the sub hasn't even finished breaking in yet.(It only has about 3 hours of relatively light playing.

Anyone have an idea as to what went wrong?

I bought the sub brand new from visions electronics on boxing day. It has only been played lightly for a couple hours though.

Is your amp going into protection? your subwoofer could have too low an impedance and that will cause too much current to flow from the amp resulting in overload!! check your amplifier manual and see what the minimum impedance is, and check the impedance of your subwoofer when wired the way you have it to see if it is below that, that might be your problem!!!

sounds like you smoked it likely from distortion or too much power.

by the way, the reason the fuse went is because the speaker would have shorted out and the amp protected itself.
