Wanting to hook up amp and also listen to radio with amp off?

Hi, I was wanting to hook up an amp to my boat but I would like to be able to turn the amp off and just listen to the stereo without the amp using the same speakers. This is to conserve battery life while fishing for the day. Then I would like to have the amp while driving and tubing. I just have a two speaker set up. Is there a way to do it with switches or something in that nature. I do have a separate deep cycle battery for accessories all ready. Thanks for any help you can give me

Just use a switch on the remote out on the deck. This way, you can turn the amp off whenever the unit is on, and if you forget the switch on, the amp will turn off with the headunit as well.

You can put a toggle switch on ur amps remote line, that takes care of that, not sure if u could have head unit and amp wires to the same set of speakers at the same time?, hmm maybe some kinda 4 pin breaker? Other than that you could get a second set of speakers so u could run 1 pair frm amp, one pair frm deck?

Try to find some sort of a 4 pin toggle switch so u can disconnect (break) the connection of the speaker wires to head unit while your runnin them with the amp. I suppose you could even do it with spade connectors on the wires , little more on the manual side but hey it would work.

Depending on the power of your amp, you could use a switch on the speaker wire. The switch will need 6 pins. The speaker will be wired to the center 2 pins. The amp would be wired to the left 2 pins and the HU would be wired to the right 2 pins. Tobble between amp and HU power easily. You will also need a switch to turn off the amp as posted above.

Depending on the amp output, it will gauge what size switch you will need to handle the power.

Example. This switch should suffice for a pair of speakers.
