Cool to hear different opinions....thats how we learn. Jonesbrooklyn, I would like to know why you feel that a slot port would be better than an Aeroport. Not that I doubt your knowledge. I am always open to new and possibly better ideas, based on experience of course.

 

Any other ideas? I got a nice box design from Big Dog Luis that I should be starting on soon.

Theres tons of styles out there, what is it you want, or whats wrong with big dog luis design...what kind of design did he do for you? what kind of enclosure do you want? what are you looking for in an enclosure?

 

Regarding the Port question.
Ideally a port should be place half the distance of the diameter of the woofer, away from the basket and any adjacent cabinet walls. However being so impractical to build (huge front baffle) ports are placed in various positions for different cabinet designs, and each will add it's own tonal quality, depending on placement. The Aeroport addressed the issue of air turbulence at the port mouths by flanging their port. Keeping the same idea in cabinetry, it's recommended to "round off" any sharp corners in the cabinet.

 

Sorry for being such late. I am looking for a box for a good SPL score. I got a 1.2 cu. ft bopx with a square port out the front for it already.

I am making one designed by Big which is 14.5x14.5x14.5 (Interall) with 2 4" aeroports out the side of it.

I was gonna buy a piece of 1" MDF board for this so I thought I would have enough for another design. But my car is having problems and is now in the shop so I have no idea when I will be able to buy these materials.

But I would still like to hear other peoples box design help questions.
