I was wondering, should I use my old box, or build a new one?
Old box: sealed, 1cu.ft. wedge, 3/4" MDF, faces into back seat.
New box: would be sealed, .65cu.ft. (optimum sealed volume, according to the specs), 3/4" MDF with some extra thickness on front face (should I go with 1" MDF, or two layers of 3/4" MDF?)
in a 98 Civic Si coupe, would I get better SQ with the sub facing front or rear?
I'm sure as replies come in, I'll have more questions but that's it for now.

I think a lot of these guys are going to say, "try placing and facing the sub at various angles in various places to see which one sounds best." And I'd agree.
I think to get the most out of that subwoofer, building a new box would be ideal. That 1cu.ft that your 'wedge' provides isn't even within the recommended range for sealed enclosures.

 

I think that's the direction I'm leaning, building a new box...
What's the general concensus on front-facing / rear-facing in a Civic coupe?
I mean, I'm only getting it for Christmas, and hope to have the box built by then...
so, unfortunately, I won't be able to do the "various angles" thing.

What I meant was, that after the box is equipped with the sub, hook it up, but try putting it in different parts of your car, different corner of the truck, to see which place sounds best to you.

 

If you have the box..try it.. I'm getting the best sounding bass ever with a 3.2cu.ft sealed box for a sub that's supposed to be in 1.2cubes. if you have the box.. try it.. in the larger enclosure it will probably sound better.. but power handling will be reduced slightly.
