The H2 will run fine off 1200rms. It will start to come alive on 2000rms though and will handle a 2500D for daily without any problems.

I use a single 2500D for my two H2 12's. The H2 is by far a better sounding and better built driver if reliability and daily driving sq are important to you.

Putting 1400rms to a L7 daily and reliability may be a question.

thx for all the input everyone
To JordyO: I wasnt trying to be hostile or anything, and I know that most of the time you dont actually get out of an amp, what 'they' say you should. I was just surprised the numbers were so low.

Anyways, I'm gonna start looking for 2 Orion H2s and will run them off of a VX4000.
If anyone knows of anyone selling a pair, gimmie a shout.

Also, how would the 2 orions compare to 4 10L7's?

If you have the space to run four 10L7's then just run two 15" H2's.

Also, if you have the money to purchase a VX4000 and four 10L7's well then.......Two H2 15's with two 2500D's would be louder, cheaper, sound better for daily, and be better equipment overall.
That would be ONE LOUD VEHICLE!

That's cool man, I wasn't getting worked up either. Just laying out the facts

As suggested above though, if you're going to be spending the cash on the H2's and a vx4000 then I'd actually suggest 2500d's.

The vx4000's are made to put out power at 16v. I assume you're running a 12v electrical so you probably won't be too happy with the output

good call with the vx4000 JordyO, I never realized that, 4000@2Ohms @ 17V ~3000@2Ohms @ 14V
The only reason I was pushin for it was because I can get 1 for a a pretty good price.
So the 2 Orions would definately outpound the 4 10L7s?
Any thoughts on 2 12 Kicker Solo-x's as opposed to the Orions/L7s?

Again, definately looking for some 2500D's, anyone got em?

ok here is the bottom line...if you have a small box the L7s are basically the loudest woofer you can get with under 2000wrms...as you go over 2000wrms the L7s kinda reach their limits...in a box over say 3 cubic feet per 12 the H2s will kill an L7 but in a street type application the L7 will walk all over a H2...so if you are doing a wall get an H2 if you are doing a nice small ported box the L7 is the only way to go

there is a 2500D in for sale, guy is asking 800$.
The orions will outperform any kicker (atleast square subs) in terms of SQ. I hear the kicker solo-x has unbelievable spl, but even with the L7 or the Orions, you will be puking on the side of the road at 3/4 volume.

I say 4 10L7 get louder than 2 H2 orions. but SQ goes to the orions no question.

ok, thanks for everyone's input
ShockingCanada: You've got a really good point with the box size, I have a good amount of room but I'm not too sure about a wall.
I think I'll look around and see what pops up for sale here or there but in the mean time, I'm gonna grab 1 more 10L7 and run the 3 of them off the D3 at 1.33 Ohms.
Thanks again guys

The H2 12 needs 2.5net to work at its best for spl. I use 1.5net but prefer more sq and my bass is a bit tighter. It is also still very loud.
The H2 15 needs 3.0net to work extremely well.
They also don't need much port area which cuts down on box size also.

I wouldn't say those are huge boxes at all. The L7 will not walk all over the H2 in street applications.

I run about 1500rms per driver and can pound it all day with no problems whatsoever. If I swapped in some L7's how long until they cooked I wonder? In fact, how many L7's fail with ~1000rms? Quite a few I've seen lately. And it wasn't user error.

Putting 1400rms to a L7 daily and reliability may be a question.
I run 1398 wrms to a single 12" L7 in a 3.25cuft slot ported enclosure. I have run numerous demo's and competed at quite a few shows with that setup. I did end up cooking one of the coils at Dave's (Defro) show in Kelowna this past summer (9 consecutive runs in the heat under the tent due to technical difficulties with the mic).

I have competed 6 times since then and still demo with the sub and routinely hit 138.8 on the Termlab and do very well in USACi in the Pro 601+ category.

The L7 will take alot if abuse, alot of power and give good results. I have hit 141.0dbs on an AC mic with a single 8" L7 in a Hammerhill enclosure running off the same amplifier. After a full year of (non-sanctioned)competitions I finally seized the 8".

I would really love to put a Solo-X through some testing but I need more power and that thing called....um....what was it again??.....oh yeah......money
