At normal listening levels you might only be putting out .2v (for sake of argument), so I dont put as much stock in Pre out voltage as I used to.

Someone here also told me that Alpines preout voltage STARTS at ZERO even when the outputs are set at +15 for example. You might be able to find the thread if you search.

Anyway, maybe you already knew all this, but it was news to me. Lots of smart people on this board here
the level of voltage coming out of your pre out rca's are controlled by the volume ****. my alpine pre out starts at zero........but then it goes up as you turn up the volume, the same way it does on all decks i think, or most anyways, atleast to my knowledge. But you almost guessed it.

And to answer the dude's question. there wont be a huge difference between the 2.5 and 4v unless the gains on your amp are way down. You can always either turn up the gains a bit or just turn up the volume on the deck a bit.

Oh, and get Alpine or Pioneer deck.

Not biting....

Whatever deck you get, its a fair bet you will have to play around, volume up, gains down, visa-versa, etc, then adjust the sub amp so it will not overpower everything else, and once you get it all setup and sounding nice, you'll buy another amp or something and start all over again

Thanks for clearing that up Yuli, and to everyone else who posted their opinions. I will take another look at Pioneer and Alpine, but under the 200 dollar range, there wasn't a whole lot that appealed to me. And I'm anti-sony as well (Wow my options are narrowed lol) I'll let you guys know what I end up with.

If you can get over the display that you do not like, then the Pioneer DEH5000 or DEH6000 are both fairly good (filters\USB\Equalizers\4v\6 Preouts) not bad for around $200.00

The DEH6000 is one I had in consideration, as they changed the display on that model, and it has all the options I want. But, wouldn't yeah know it, the site I'm ordering from has it listed as "Out of StocK - Backorder"

I'm looking at a DEH 6900, but it looks like it only has the Front and Rear Pre-Outs

Hold off then because you will regret not having the 3 sets of 2 later. Do you have to order online? Those are fairly common decks.

You could also get a lot of bang for buck purchasing used or New In Box used from someone here. Not sure I would ever speakers used except "NIB" (which I have from here) but H/U is a different story, or amps, etc.

Just throwing it out there.

Well, I've looked over the FS section here for HU's, not much seems to be moving, that I'm looking for anyways. I will take your advice on the Pre-out bit though. Right now I have 2, front and rear, but if I got a HU with only 2 pre-outs, with the sub control, it'd also effect my rear amp, and I wouldn't want that.

Pioneer Premier 600UB is looking damn good right now:

PIONEER PREMIER DEH-P600UB 600 CAR CD/USB/IPOD PLAYER - eBay (item 350121180822 end time Dec-05-08 11:48:24 PST)

A little more than I want to spend, but it has almost all options (Except built in Bluetooth) that I want.
