6w3v3 in kickpanels
#11
Thanks for the reply. I am currently looking for what amp to use. I have a 2 channel that does 150w x 2 which is currently powering my front components, however would need to get a 4 channel which would do the same. Or go with 3 amps which I am not too fond of however price wise may be the end result.
I am looking at doing kick panels for each speaker. I just need to figure out if there is room or not to do them without sacraficing too much space.

A 4 X 150W amp is a rare and expensive thing....a matching amp for the one you have would look good and provide all the power you would need for the 6W3s.

From what I've read about them, the kicks would need to be fairly bulky to get enough air space behind the drivers for them to work properly.....it would be much easier to just put them in the doors.....

Three amps it is.

Ya i think doing my own kick panels may be in order. Went to price them out today $800 is a bit steep for me. $200 per driver for the 6w3v3 and, budget dependant will either find another 2 channel amp or a Alpine 4150 for $690.
I will complete the kick panels THEN post a few pics. Once I am sure they look good. No sense in posting a few pics then screw it all up in the end.

I will have a look around for some ideas as well. One that comes to mind right now that I have not looked at yet is the passive add a midbass option that I have seen from some companies. MB Quart, Focal and quite possibly Morel. Now that I think about it, Focal definitely had this in the 165KB driver and the results from it running passive were amazing. Sealed the door up as best as possible with multiple layers of proper deadener (Blach Hole #5) and applied a healthy dose of power. Upper end was a set of 165K2P. I have some pics at the store. If this might work for you or you need an amp, I am headed to Kamloops next Sunday to drop off my cousin and bring another customers vehicle back to the island to get worked on.
