6x9s with no box - quick question

I'm getting some 6x9's, and have no box right now. Any harm in playing them with no box?

I have, in the past, always run my 6 x 9's with no box due to a lack of space. No damage has ever come from running them free air. You do, however, get a better bass response with some kind of enclosure IMO.

I agree 100% there baffles but waste of money, wood or glass is the way to go.

Provided that you have something to separate the front of the speaker from the back, go for it. If you are just plunking them down on the seat and expecting them to work, well don't expect stellar results. The parcel shelf of a car serves much like the front baffle of a box. It then uses the trunk as the box and keeps the rear pressure wave from interacting with the front pressure wave, this increases the tonal response (primarily in the bottom end) exponentially.

big words! Lol. Just bugging. Good point with the separation baffle. I should have mentioned that...
