any reason to keep blown speakers?
Hello ladies n gentlemen.
I'm workin on cleaning out my closet, emptying out all the flippin box's i've kept from stuff i've bought.
I've come accross some eclipse 5x7 coaxials, with blown tweeters. Is there any reason to keep these speakers? They were the first set of speakers i ever owned, and lasted quite a while, past warranty heh. But now, as i'm throwing things out, are these of any use in any which way, or can i garbage them along with all the other crap in my closet????

they make good paper wieghts.. I give mine to a metal recycling yard.. since the baskets are made from really good metal (shame to throw it away) and the magnets are still good. If not take a hammer and smash the magnet structure.. the broken magnet shards make great designer fridge magnets.
I took an old blown sony 12", seperated the magnet off, fiberglassed it to a pole, now when i'm cleaing up the cutting room I simply drag it along the sawdust covered floor and it picks up all the extra screws I dropped durring the day.
If you feel like having some fun, definitely plug it into a wall socket. Many an afternoon were spent blowing the crap out of defective/half blown speakers when I was in retail.
