Any technology that keeps the sub linear generally inhibits SPL.....

look for raw shat... not xbl or split coil blah blah... and **** on shorting rings................... high fs will probably help, and duh tune it to the install......

The XXX may get stupid loud, but it was never designed for SPL. It was designed for pure loud as **** SQ.

The MT on the other hand was designed strictly for SPL.

Yes, the XXX will get loud, but the MT will get louder.

I wasn't refering to the xxx prior to '06. I'm talking about the new ones. I'm not saying the mt's aren't better for spl but the xxx will hit high numbers.

That's odd then, I could have sworn we were talking about which subs were BEST for SPL as the thread title would suggest.

Just playin with ya. We all know the XXX gets loud but so do a lot of subs but that doesn't mean they are the best choice for SPL. So being mentioned in this thread would be incorrect.

Who posted statistics?

I understand where you're coming from, but what you're saying is still incorrect.

The XXX can and WILL get loud, but it is not an SPL sub. On a mic it will get spanked by an RE MT, DD 95, or DD99.

btw..throwing up a random SPL number for 1 12" really means nothing without knowing the mic it's on, the power it's using, the vehicle it's in...ect ect.. (btw, I've seen a guy hit over 180 with Pioneer 12's! )

Once again I never said the XXX was better than any of the above mentioned subs, did I? The mic used was the Audiocontrol mic that is the same used by Iasca but not sure how much power was being run. I think it's weird that's all, because the guys at RE all say that it's meant to be an spl sub but whatever, I'm not gonna sit here and argue what's better.
