can subwoofer's be repaired?

i bought a pair of jl audio 10w0-8s from a local person. i tested them before i gave him the cash, but i guess i didn't turn the volume up enough. anyhow, one of them has a rattle/vibration that sounds very much like a loose screw would. it's not too bad and almost un-noticeable unless the sub is being played alone. does this sound familiar and can it be corrected for a reasonable price or should i try to get my money back? i did get a pretty good price on them...
Heh...what he said was basically true, although a little harsh.
A better way to say it probably would have been to just say.
The cost of a recone for that sub would probably make it not worth reconing. You could probably buy a new one for a very similar price [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img]

Those subs are notorious for the dustcap coming unglued and making that sound. Check to see if it is loose around the perimeter where it is glued to the cone. If that is the problem you can buy a product called E6000 to repair it. When I worked for a JL dealer back in the day we had at least 30% of subs requiring this within a year. In fact I have a JL sub in my basement with the dustcap off.

k, i'll check on the dust cap thing although i'm very inexperienced and uneducated when it comes to car audio. i did notice though that if i push the cone upwards from behind while it's playing, the noise is gone and the sub sounds perfect. dunno if that helps to identify the source of the problem or not...
