I was browsing Japan's Alpines site and found a new cd player thats one model above the 9835.

The price is about 100,000 yen for the 9939, while the 9835 costs about 68,000 yen. The two models look the same. Can you guys see the difference between the two and why there is such a big price gap?

I haven't seen the specs for the 9835, but I see a copper chassis, pre-out only. It would be nice if it had optical, but I'd go for it instead of the 9835. I don't know, I like it better. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Yeah, Copper chassis, outboard Dc-Dc convertor (like chad sez, preamp only) and co-ax out (digital?) and looks like they are trying to highlight some of the internal components.
Looks nice and blue all around, as opposed to the green buttons.
