couple questions, amp, sub grill, components...
Have a few questions so im going to put them all in one post, hopefully somebody can help me figure it out (and hopefully give me the answers i want to hear, lol)
firstly. i was looking at a set of infinity kappa components for my car since the coaxials just dont cut it anymore. I noticed that they are 2 ohm, 90w rms. which is perfect for my 4 channel amp, it can output at least 100w per channel at 2 ohm.
what I was hoping is that if I were to use these speakers hooked up to the front two channels of my amp, can I run a set of 4 ohm speakers on the rear channels at the same time? has anybody done this with another amp or is this something that you can normally do?
the amp is a phoenix gold tantrum 400.4
link: ftp://www.rodinaudio.com/Phoenix%20Gold%20Mobile%20Audio/Manuals/Amplifiers/Tantrum%20400.4_600.4%20manual.pdf
my rear speakers are infinity refrence 9602i
Speaker Type: Coaxial - 2-way - passive
Speaker Diameter: 6" x 9"
Nominal (RMS) Output Power: 100 Watt
Max (RMS) Output Power: 300 Watt
Response Bandwidth: 46 - 21000 Hz
Input Impedance: 4 Ohm
Sensitivity: 92 dB
now, secondly. I want a grill for my subwoofer since its in my trunk and I use my trunk. I have an infinity kappa perfect 12.1 12" sub, and Infinity dosent make grills specific to the sub, so I was wondering if I could be pointed in the right direction for something that will fit. Something with a mesh would be ideal for me since I dont care if you can see the sub, i dont have any intention of showing it off, as long as its very rigid since this sub is very good at making everything else in my car rattle, dont need something else, lol. I have seen a bunch of grills online, I just want to get some first hand experiences with them before I go ahead and order something to find its not very rigid or dosent quite fit.
thanks!
peace

as far as i know the setup for the front will pose no problems for you... but someone may jump in and make me look stupid... hahah but i think you'll be fine
as for the grille... look in places you wouldn't expect... such as stores that sell P.A. gear like Long & McQuade musical instruments, also i think you can get them at circuit city/the source. I know if you go to a place like L&M you'll get industrial strength gear. intended for things that are often treated with anything but respect, so if you are looking for strong i would give them a shot.

Not a problem. you can run the 2 front channels at 2ohms, and the 2 rear channels at 4ohm. I have those Infinity kappas right now, and I'm very happy with them. As for the grill, get a set of "waffle" grills as they're known. As was mentioned, any speaker shop, best buy, etc...should have them, as well as most online audio stores. Check out Madisound.com, Solen.ca, or parts express. By the way, I will be selling those Infinity's soon if you're interested...excellent condition, great price...selling this car soon.

thanks for the info, still unsure about grills but im getting closer. the waffle grills from parts express look good, they have some heavy duty ones. i just wish they would have better mounting options, going to have to think about this one and check out some more places.
