Hey..

I just got my car back from a garage shop that installed my radio since it's too cold to solder outside.. (Previous owner of my car really butchered the wiring).

So yea.. I got the car back and I find that there's no memory on the deck.. so I spliced together a few wires and was wondering if it's ok to let the power wire and memory wire splice together to the 12V wire from the battery. I noticed that when I do that the radio can be turned on when the key is out and the radio doesn't shut off when I turn the engine on.

Is this ok for the car? Do I run a risk of burning anything?

Let me know

BTW.. it's a 1998 Honda Accord EX Coupe and a Premier DEH-P740MP Deck.. if that makes any difference.

It should be fine as long as its a fused wire but you will have to remember to turn off the deck when you park or you could run the risk of killing your battery! For the time being just grab a test light and find an accessory power and splice into it and wrap it up with some electrical tape. after all you dont want to solder anything yet just dont forget about it and leave it as a premanent fix!

ok everyone now... M, I, C....K, E, Y, MOUSE!
but it will work as a temporary fix

=\ Found my battery dead this morning.. and turn signals dead.. guess it's not alright.. stupid me.

Does anyone know what fuse to replace for the Accord when the signals aren't working? My hazzards are still fine.

If you sent it into the shop to be installed and it doesn't work propper then bring it back and make them fix it. You paid them to install it properly not half assed.

I don't want anyones name to be slandered but just curious what shop you went to get the deck installed...

1. The first time that it got butchered and

2. The second time you took it in and they tried to 'remedy' the problem.

I bought it used from a guy off of Toronto Accords.. I don't know where he did his install.. but his HU didn't come with a faceplate.. so I took it out and found that he basically took the factory harness and stripped little portions of the wire and just spliced his own Sony Deck onto the harness.. it's a pretty hacked job. My uncle owns a shop.. it's no professional audio shop but I just wanted some music in the car until it warms up enough to completely redo the car.
