just get "fatmat" from dalfen auto in oakville. you won't find a better deal anywhere and fatmat is top rated! just do a background check....even check out their site(fatmat's). fatmat.com ........stop making things complicated! you can get 50 square feet for a bargain. it's butyl based wich is far superior to ashpalt....and it has an aluminum skin! do some research on it. and like I said dalfen auto is located at 407 speers in oakville ...right in your own backyard!

 

I have been reading some really bad info on fatmat. I see on many forums people are complaining about ordering the fatmat and never receiving it. I also read that it smells and does not stick very well. If I was you I would buy B-Quiet, A friend of mine used it on his front doors and the difference is amazing.

 

it worked great for me. I applied it with a heat gun and it isn't comming off. sound deadening is A1 and 3db gain is very true. bass now feels and sounds upfront. proper installation is critical as with anything. I used an engine degreasing agent and windex all purpose. surface must be free from all residue and dust. althow it isn't recommended to use a heat gun.....why wouldn't you?????for the added adhesion to the metal the time is worth it. if you apply it and are able to pull it off it's not installed properly...heat and lots of pressure/elbow grease....where it doesn't make contact with metal such as curves. simply relief cut the section heat it and press down. no bubbles whatsoever. thats what leads to it comming off. the air gap alows for condensation wich will slowly lift it or any such product for that matter!

 

inreference to my last post. you should only be able to remove it once applied with a scraper. if you can grab a corner and pull it back. it isn't installed correctly. it needs to fuse to the metal inorder to be effective.....(fatmat is what I am talking about!)

 

alot of missleading info there my friend. that article is not a very good guide as to which deadener is best.

 

i can bet you $100000000 you did not gain 3 db's from sound deadening. Another $1000000000 for you if you can logically and technically back up your claim of 3 db gain.

matter of fact, I can bet another $1000000000 that SPL infact has decreased after you applied the deadener.

heat gun? not always. heating up deadener that's not required to be heated is compromising its structural integrity. that's why you would not use a heat gun.

 

Ive used fatmat and it was a butyl based deadener. Maybe they have updated their product, because all the negative comments were refering to an asphault based deaner.

It stuck on great, doesnt peal off and doesn't require a heat gun. No bad smells, not even after baking in the hot summer sun.

I think it works great. I would have loved to buy b-quiet like I did in my previous install but their prices are a lot higher now.
