Every witer this is asked. Every winter this is answered.

It was -15 to -25 for a week here recently. No problems whatsoever with any of my equipment.

I have never ever once heard of anyone actually having cold related problems.
?? really ? </font>
Yes. Really. </font>
Its funny because theres an open thread on this

And that magazine was absolutly right, in a unheated storage space your not running your equipment. What hurts electronics is heating / cooling and the Speed of temperature change. Electronics are plastic/silicone/ceramic/electroylic for most parts and they simply become brittle when cold.

Kindly directly me to an open thread in which a person has had their stereo equipment damaged due to cold weather.

Water is actually a really poor conductor on its own....

Add dissolved ions and things can get nasty...

I believe electronics and cold weather dont mix , say your systm gets cold and freezes from staying outside the whole night/day then u start your ride and drive around for a while with the heat on , then all to ice condensation on your boards turn into a path to conduct all kinds of unhappy electrical problems , thats why they say they work between a certain range of temperature , why do batteries do in cold weather , u get what i mean ??

I would certainly agree that extreme temperatures hot or cold are not the ideal operating environment for electronics, come to think of it, for anything. However, as I've stated before, if you are reasonable careful with the volume ****, you should not have any problems. I have not had any in 20+ years in temps from -40c to +40c and I drive a lot, 60-70,ooo km annually.
